Ling Xu, Alumnae Director

Greetings Sisters!

It is a privilege to have been selected by EBOD to serve as the first Executive Director of our newly launched Alumnae Chapter. The Alumnae Chapter team’s vision is to create a strong alumnae network for our organization by continuing to foster sisterly bonds after graduation. Through this network we will promote education, professionalism, leadership, and be able to add more value to our undergraduate and alumnae sisters’ Sigma experience.

I have been a sister for more than 10 years and I can confidently say that I am a better person today both in my personal and professional life, because of our wonderful sisterhood. In my professional career, I have been managing teams for almost 7 years and I have no doubt that a big part of my success is due to the skills and lessons that I have learned by being a Sigma sister. Working together as a team, leadership, organizational skills, networking, being open to other’s opinions, self reflection, staying focused and maintaining optimism even when faced with roadblocks and distractions and much more. As I progress in my professional career and continue to groom my skills and promote further personal growth, I am continuously thankful for our organization and all the sisters that have impacted my life both during undergrad and post graduation.

I recently got married and I am proud to say that I had the support of many sisters every step of the way as I celebrated this personal milestone. Engagement ring shopping with Angela Leung ‘Justice’ Delta Chapter, bachelorette weekend planned by Jeanne Chang ‘Cosmo’ Beta Chapter, reception dinner planned by Allison ‘HiFi’ Cheng and Paula ‘HipHop’ Marisi of Alpha Chapter, and reception dessert cupcakes being baked by Sandy ‘Merlot’ Vien Eta Chapter.

The Sigma experience is real, and we all know that you get out of it what you put in. My hope is that more alumnae would want to share our experience with younger sisters and promote continuous involvement post graduation. Our alumnae network is growing with each graduating class and every sister that we cross will eventually become an alumna. It is a critical time for us to establish a strong alumnae foundation in order to continuously add value to our alumnae community and build a stronger brand for our organization.

Thank you!
